About Us 

East Melbourne Optometry & Low Vision Centre specializes in the assessment of visual function for patients with the moderate and severe vision impairments that we characterize as ‘low vision’.

We prescribe spectacles and other optical, magnifying and electronic aids that enhance vision for specific tasks in response to patients’ needs.

We also provide refractive assessment and correction for all patients with unusual or difficult eye focus errors. We have a wide range of therapeutic tints for people with extreme glare sensitivity, including Xchrome and artificial pupil contact lenses, blue-blocking filters and the FL-41 tint for migraine and blepharospasm.

We provide vision assessment for vocational needs such as driving licences to AustRoads standards and can act as a mediator, providing a second opinion in situations of clinical or dispensing dispute.

We provide a full diagnostic service for the inherited colour vision disorders and are the Victorian agent for iRo lenses.  We evaluate colour aptitude to determine excellence of colour judgement for the print, interior design and other colour critical industries.   

Consultations are by appointment only; referrals are not essential.  However, referrals from other optometrists, ophthalmologists and general medical practitioners are welcome.
